ONE NATION ONE SUBSCRIPTION

Introduction

  1. Before ONOS, access to subscription journals were being acquired through different library consortia of government departments, academic and R & D institutions; and through individual subscriptions by various higher education and R & D institutions.
  2. One Nation One Subscription is a timely step towards establishing India in the global research ecosystem by bringing ease of doing research to the doorstep of all students, faculty members and researchers in the government institutions.
  3. The One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) intends to acquire national licenses for e-journal/database subscriptions from most of the prominent journal publishers. A total of 30 major international journal publishers have been included in ONOS. All the journals published by these publishers will be accessible to the students, faculty members and researchers of the participating institutions.
  4. The Department of Higher Education, Government of India will have a unified portal “One Nation One Subscription“ (https://www.onos.gov.in/) through which the institutions will be able to access the journals.

ETD Section: a glimpse

Electronic Theses & Dissertations Section (ETD)

ETD section offers a Plagiarism/Similarity Check service using TURNITIN & DRILLBIT plagiarism detection software. It manages the downloading of theses, verification, and forwarding to the Evaluation Branch from the E-Thesis Tracking System. The theses submitted to the university are uploaded on the library OPAC (http://jnucatalogue.jnu.ac.in:8000/) and made accessible to the scholars. The submitted theses are also uploaded to the Shodhganga National Repository after the scholars have been awarded the degree (https://shodhganga.inflibnet.ac.in/handle/10603/60)

The ETD section also provides online and offline reference services to JNU scholars and those visiting from other universities. The awareness sessions/workshops are organized frequently by the Central Library to address the queries of the scholars and to equip them with the know-how of the software. The workshops intend to create awareness among scholars about the features accessible to them and their effective use. The exhibitions of theses & dissertations on different topics are also organized to showcase the research work of the scholars and for wider publicity among the scholars.
